(HD Fire Brand Positive Drain Actuator)
Description
Positive Drain Actuator ( PDA ) Model A is a device used in dry pilot detection trim for Deluge Valve Model-A.
The compressed air connecting the detection line, holds the diaphragm seat and thereby holds the water pressure coming through the diaphragm chamber of Deluge Valve.
On release of detection line, when the air pressure drops, the spring lifts the diaphragm seat of the actuator and drains the water of diaphragm chamber of the Deluge Valve.
Once the water pressure inside the Deluge Valve diaphragm chamber reach 0.7 Kg./Sq.cm. the direct drain spring lifts the seat and the positive drain continues till the time the actuator is manually reset.
Positive Drain Actuator must be tested for operation quarterly.
To test, release air pressure in detection line, the water flow from open drain (3/4”) of actuator must be noticed and Deluge Valve must trip.
Reset the Deluge Valve.
For resetting refer to the resetting procedure of the Deluge Valve Model-A. (catalogue no. HD101).
Notify all authorities having jurisdiction while testing so as to avoid false alarm.
